Mike was born in Fairbanks in 1956; he grew up in Anchorage and spent most of childhood summers in mining camps. He attended the University of Alaska, Anchorage and Fairbanks for a B.S. degree in Mining Engineering (1979), an M.S. in Mineral Preparation Engineering/Mineral Separation (1982) and an M.S. Degree in Engineering of Mines (1995).
He obtained his Professional Engineering license in 1989.
Mike has been a successful miner, fisherman, land man, land developer, cabin builder, construction worker, prospector, service oiler, and University Instructor. He offers safety training for the mining, petroleum and construction industries here in Alaska.
Mike started his business as a safety trainer in 1984 and became the premier MSHA OSHA instructor here in Alaska.
In 2005, Mike married Margaret and together they have conducted classes and helped Alaskans be safer in these industries.

Margaret came on the scene in Mike's Safety training business in 2005. She was raised in the Mat-Su Valley on a dairy farm, and at a fairly young age, learned to operate heavy equipment.
