In Alaska, we offer both the New Miner and Refresher MSHA training under CFR 30 Part 46 (gravel/rock) and part 48 (metal/nonmetal) for surface and under ground mines. The Surface New Miner Class is available in either a 16 or 24 Hour format using either direct In-Person training or Zoom Video Conferencing Instruction. The classes can cover Metal, Non-Metal (Gravel, Rock and Sand), and Coal. 32 Hour and 40 Hour Underground Classes are also available. 8 Hour MSHA Refreshers are also available. These classes are taught by a professional mining engineer with over 30 years of MSHA Training Experience in Alaska.
The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) requires all new miners and contractors to be trained and certified before you start working. Once you receive your certification will still need to complete the Mine's Site Hazard Training and Task Training. Having this certification before you apply for a mining job will give you a distinct advantage over people that do not have the training.
MSHA Certifications are good to work for 12 months since last certification and to the end of that month. So if you took your last class on April 6, 2020 then your card is good to work up to April 30, 2021. If you do not take the Refresher course within 2 years of your last class you must either retake the New Miner course or if you have taken the new miner class and have 12 months of mining experience you can take the experienced miner 8 hour course instead.
At the completion of training you will be issued a MSHA 5000-23 Certificate which will document training for both MSHA and your employer. This Certificate is recognized nationwide.
We specialize in on-site, remote and classroom training all over the state of Alaska. If you have 3 or more employees, it is often going to be cheaper to have us come to your site to do training.
*** Remember: Some of the mines in Alaska do not accept online classes which are not taught by experienced MSHA instructors.
Pricing:
Group Rate: $600.00 per 8 hour training day with up to 20 students.
Special Open Enrollment Courses are available in the Spring at $200/per student for New miner classes and $80 per student for refreshers.
The 24 Hr, 32 Hr, 40 Hr MSHA classes also include First Aid/CPR/AED training, with certifications cards for additional $12/per student.
